Media Labs and Innovation Processes
Presentation and workshop
How does journalism innovate?
This session will share research findings on how media labs are creating new innovations across the globe. Conducted over the last four years, the project – a collaboration between the Media Innovation Studio in the UK, PUCRS in Brazil and UBI in Portugal, explored how media labs develop new products, processes, attitudinal change and, ultimately, digital transformation. We will showcase the innovation tools and methods that labs and publishers are using to create change and innovation.
Our workshop will allow participants to recount their own innovation approaches and experiences, share key learnings within one-another and work with the research team to plot best innovation processes. We’ll collectively identify key approaches, metrics and pitfalls.
Background: this workshop will is part of a 12-month research project funded by the European Media Management Association. Innovating journalism structures and processes runs for 12 months and aims to understand key innovation processes across Latin America and Europe.
